Beverley Switzler
Having graduated from a backup feature in Giant Size Man Thing to his own
comic Howard the Duck met his longtime girlfriend Beverly under unusual
circumstances.  In the first issue the suicidal drake climbed a tower made of
credit cards intending to throw himself off.  The tower turned out to be the
lair of the cosmic accountant Pro-Rata but before meeting the wizard Howard
paused halfway up the tower and encountered Pro-Rata's prisoner.







After accidentally killing the dog (a magically transformed hired barbarian)
Howard wound up taking his place in stealing the cosmic key Pro-Rata was
after.  Accompanied by Bev there followed some Conan style action and a
team-up with Spider Man after which the odd couple headed off together.
It wasn't until the Howard the Duck Magazine came out that it was confirmed
that yes, their relationship did get physical.
